The Kaki Collection evolved from the artist's favorite past time, painting. A love for color, an eye for the unique, her summer to fill, as she is an early childhood teacher, Kaki Smith started painting anything she could get her hands on whether it be canvases or, picture frames or, especially furniture. The Kaki Collection began as a creative outlet for the artist and a means to share her creations with friends and family. And yet, it has grown in ways she has not expected but is thrilled to see where it takes her. It is her hope to create beautiful, whimsical, and yet practical pieces for all to enjoy.
Kaki lives in Houston, Texas with her loving husband, Shane, who has learned to live with paint cans, a sander, drop cloths, and miscellaneous furniture as the projects have taken over the house yet he is still as supportive as ever. Also, in her family is a lovable dog, Putter, a loud bird, Gracie and several fish.
